Kangen Water

Enagic's powerful at-home water ioniser - the K8 - produces electrolysed reduced water that is rich in molecular hydrogen. Molecular Hydrogen & Antioxidants

Molecular Hydrogen (H2) is our true MVP.

It is the smallest known molecule in the Universe, composed of just two hydrogen atoms - atomic hydrogen. H2 is made via the process of electrolysis inside the K8 machine and yields what we call hydrogen-rich water.

Inside the body, H2 acts as a powerful and incredibly bioavailable antioxidant.

Antioxidants support health within our bodies by neutralising free radicals or reactive oxygen species. The reason free radicals are damaging in our body is that they take an electron (aka oxidise) our tissues which creates oxidative stress. Oxidative stress can lead to inflammation and thus illness in the body.

Antioxidants (in this case, molecular hydrogen) support the body's natural capacity to detoxify by safely donating an electron to these damaging free radicals, thus reducing them.

Electrolysed Reduced Water (ERW)

Electrolysed Reduced Water is water that has been reduced via electrolysis. Reduced means that it has gained electrons.

Inside the machine, a current of electricity is passed through the water via 8 platinum dipped titanium plates. This is significant as these metals are resistant to corrosion and highly non-reactive, thus will not break down into or react with the water. Whilst the metals will not corrode (oxidise) there can be trace amounts of platinum nanoparticles in the water which have been shown to contribute positively to the reduction power of the water. The alkalised water has gained electrons and thus carries a negative charge, also why it is lovingly referred to by distributors as living water.

Reduced water has the capacity to donate electrons to other substances it comes into contact with, thus reducing that substance (as opposed to oxidising it). We want to minimise oxidation in the body as much as possible.

Negative ORP & Alkalised

ORP stands for oxidation reduction potential. It is a measure of how oxidising or reducing (anti-oxidising) a substance is. A negative reading means a greater potential to reduce ie more powerful antioxidant. Positive readings indicate acidic, oxidising substances.

Carbonated beverages like sodas are highly acidic, coffee and alcohol are also acidic but to a lesser degree. Even bottled water when measured, reads a positive ORP indicating it is oxidising!

Kangen water fresh from the machine can read as low as -700mV.

Neutral water can be made alkaline via the addition of a substance (like bicarbonate) initiating a chemical change to yield a higher pH.

It is the electrical charged passed through the water inside a Kangen machine that creates alkalised water.

Filtered & Ionised

As water enters the K8 from your tap it passes through an activated carbon filter removing particles up to 5micron in size, over 95% of chlorine, lead, sediment, POCs, herbicides and pesticides, some bacteria and odour.

The filter is incredibly important but not the most impressive part of the K8 - it is the absolute minimum that we should be doing to our drinking water. If you don’t filter your water, you become the filter.

The more important and impressive part of this machine is it's function to ionise our water. Ions are charged molecules. The electrolysis occurring inside the K8 machine creates ionised water, water that is negatively charged.
